This last semester I had a chance to take a printmaking course thanks to my Visual Arts minor. There were things I looved (and other things not as much), but I think that relief printing is now initiated into my favorite hobby categories.
So, the block starts off completely flat and you carve out the white space. (Kind of like a giant stamp)

It gets a little exhausting/it's hard work so I recruited this guy.
Once the board is ready, you get to print! Picking ink/mixing it is one of my favorite parts of the process.
This is what the press looks like after you ink your plate and get ready to print; Registering the paper and board to line up is maybe not my favorite.....
But taking off that sheet of paper is so exciting!
So this is the final product! I'm excited to see what else I can do with this board.
Aaand, to clean this you have to drench it in kerosine. I maybe left it in my car overnight and honestly, I can't get in my car a week later. Insta headache.
I love it! Wish I could stamp my walls with that goodness!
