Since something exciting happened (we got our wedding photos back), I wanted to document from beginning of engagement to wedding.
Feb 10: My birthday/the day we got engaged!
I hate to say that I saw it coming a little bit, I mean he was wayyyy too excited about my birthday! In a good way.
The day started with a stop from my, umm boyfriend (mckay), with breakfast and a walk up to campus together for class, followed by a presentation, and then work.
McKay had the whole night planned, he picked me up from school and we went to dinner reservations at Happy Sumo. The best. We got our VIP on, got some free dessert, and laughed at McKay trying to eat sushi.
By the end of dinner I was getting a little antsy. He wouldn't tell me where we were going...which was obviously towards Alpine. I was begging him to tell me (a typical scene) and said house where he grew up. I was actually a little weirded out by this, but I went along.
So as we approached his house and passed it, he still wouldn't tell me where we were going. Ugh. After a bit, we headed up a small snowy canyon, the drive was amazing! Nestled in the basin of it was quaint little barn. We got out and headed towards the barn trudging through the foot deep snow, and as I walked in, I knew we were going to get engaged that night. There were strands of lights hanging from the ceiling, a projector screen, our favorite treats, and a cozy little pile of blankets and pillows waiting for us to watch a flick.
We sat down and watched a movie McKay had made for my birthday, it is one of my favorite things. I still watch it often.
Following the movie, he got out my presents, and in the first bag (banana republic) was a box. And inside THAT box was another box! I died a little. He took it from me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
I said yes, clearly (since we are married now).
He turned on our favorite Joshua Radin and we danced in the barn.
That birthday will be a hard one to beat. Such a great day!!
So much love.
Here is the video he made me, the first half is friends, skip to 15:50 for pictures.
